About the site.
Starsurge is my fanlisting collective which houses all of my fanlistings not attached to shrines, and links those that are attached to shrines. Basically, it helps keep things looking nice on my end. I have so many fanlistings at this point that going without isn't really an option. Trust me, I've tried. It was more of a hassle than anything. If I only had a very small number of fanlistings then maybe I could go without, but at this point not so much. There are so many amazing subjects that don't have a fanlisting and I feel the need to fix this. I love them too so why not? Needless to say I have a ton of fanlistings because of this. I guess in a way you could say I've found my second wind when it comes to fanlistings.
I'm not quite sure what drove me to make this collective other than maybe to make things easier on me. After the closing of my previous fanlisting collective, which was on its own domain, I decided I could do without having a fanlisting collective to house my fanlistings and simply link them at the main domain instead. It was fine for a while but eventually I found it to be more work than it was worth. At the time I had 16 fanlistings and felt I could not get myself to go below that many fanlistings. But in addition to that I also found it somewhat annoying to create a new subdomain every time I was approved for a new fanlisting, plus the behind the scenes irritated the heck out of me. It was a mess. I guess you could say this collective was more for the sake of my sanity than anything. Starsurge was opened on October 20, 2011.
The name Starsurge comes a Balance Druid ability found in the MMORPG World of Warcraft. Truthfully I only settled on the name because I thought it sounded cool and I couldn't think of anything better. I usually play Feral on my Druid, but with Legion I've been playing Balance too, because Feral is in a really rough spot right now. It's actually really fun, but my dps is awful because most of my gear is still Feral gear and as such lacks the highly desired haste stat. But anyway, this is the wrong site for talking about that. I want to say I've thought about changing the name of this site, but at this point I'm not really sure if I can. It has grown on me and I love the sound of it. Maybe one day, but definitely not right now.
Currently we are on version 8 of the site which features Eirika from the video game Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones for the Gameboy Advance, featuring her Fire Emblem Heroes artwork. I'm in love with this new layout, although putting it together was an absolute pain. I was almost worried it wouldn't happen. Needless to say I am beyond happy that everything worked out. The layout was made by me using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and coded by hand using Notepad. The image used in the layout was found at Fire Emblem Wiki and textures used were from the late Aethereality.net. Fonts used are called Mademoiselle Camille and Georgia. Previous layouts used may be found at my layout archive.
